經(jīng)歷了三年多的漫長等待，2017年聯(lián)合國中文筆譯類競爭性考試終于大幕再啟。該考試旨在為聯(lián)合國輸送中文筆譯員、編輯、逐字記錄員、制版員/校對員/制作編輯等人才。通過考試人員將正式進入聯(lián)合國語言類后備人員庫待聘。近年來，聯(lián)合國的資深譯員逐步進入退休高峰期，迭代遞補的加速，為更多有志于圓夢聯(lián)合國的翻譯學(xué)人帶來了巨大的機遇和樂觀的預(yù)期。
中文是聯(lián)合國六種正式語文之一。聯(lián)合國擁有一支素質(zhì)極高的中文翻譯隊伍，分布在紐約、日內(nèi)瓦、維也納、內(nèi)羅畢、曼谷等地。誠如聯(lián)合國大會和會議管理部文件司中文處處長陳忠良所說，他所領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的中文處“對中國代表有效參與聯(lián)合國的工作、對聯(lián)合國政府間進程的順暢運作、對廣大中文讀者了解和支持聯(lián)合國的工作起著不可或缺的作用。”

早在1979年，受我國政府和聯(lián)合國總部的委托，北京外國語學(xué)院（現(xiàn)北京外國語大學(xué)）成立聯(lián)合國譯訓(xùn)班（首任主任由張載梁教授出任），旨在為聯(lián)合國培養(yǎng)同聲傳譯和筆譯人才，前后共13期，相當(dāng)一部分在聯(lián)合國機構(gòu)任職，其業(yè)務(wù)水平及表現(xiàn)得到了聯(lián)合國方面的高度評價。不少人出任高級外交官（例如：中國駐美國大使崔天凱，中國常駐聯(lián)合國代表、特命全權(quán)大使劉結(jié)一，中國駐紐約總領(lǐng)事章啟月，前國務(wù)院僑辦副主任何亞非等）或為黨和國家領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人擔(dān)任主要翻譯。

聯(lián)合國譯訓(xùn)班于1993年停辦后，聯(lián)合國開始面向全球公開舉行中文筆譯類競爭性考試，建立后備人員名冊。首次公開考試于2001年2月舉行，其后分別在2006年4月、2008年11月、2010年5月和2013年9月舉行考試。
2017年聯(lián)合國中文筆譯類競爭性考試將在2017年4月25日舉行，考試報名時間為1月15日到2月14日（具體報名在聯(lián)合國招聘平臺Inspira.un.org上進行）。歡迎在筆譯領(lǐng)域?qū)W有所長的朋友積極投考，在聯(lián)合國的平臺上鋪展人生的絢爛畫卷。

考試共分兩個階段，第一階段為網(wǎng)考，第二階段（第一階段勝出者參加）為英譯中（閉卷）和面試。
2017年1月15日起，最新招考信息將在聯(lián)合國職業(yè)網(wǎng)站（careers.un.org）、語言類職業(yè)網(wǎng)站（languagecareers.un.org/zh）、聯(lián)合國相關(guān)微博/微信公眾號和推特賬號、國內(nèi)相關(guān)部委網(wǎng)站和新聞門戶網(wǎng)站上同步更新，歡迎持續(xù)關(guān)注。

Preparing for the competitive examination for translators and translators/précis-writers
It would not be an exaggeration to say that candidates have been preparing for the United Nations competitive examination for translators and translators/précis-writers all of their lives. Broad intellectual curiosity and general knowledge are very important for United Nations translators, who translate documents covering every topic on the United Nations agenda. Translators must also draw upon their experience, intelligence and ability to think critically and independently in order to perform their functions successfully. This ability to think critically and analytically is particularly necessary for précis-writing, which is an important aspect of the work of translators in the English and French translation services at some duty stations.
Translators/précis-writers, editors, verbatim reporters and copy preparers/proofreaders/production editors must above all be good writers. And, at the risk of stating the obvious, the way to learn to write well is to read. The more well-read you are in your target and source languages, the more knowledgeable in political and international affairs, and the more intellectually curious in such areas as human rights, international peace and security, economic and social development, humanitarian affairs and international law, the better prepared you will be for the examination. Reading widely will not only strengthen your substantive knowledge in relevant fields but will also help to broaden your vocabulary, refine your style and give you a feel for the typical structures and expressions used in the languages from and into which you work.
Stay informed about political, social, cultural and other developments worldwide, and compare coverage of the same events in newspapers, magazines and newscasts in different languages. Peruse United Nations electronic and published news sources and visit the Organization’s audio-visual materials site to read, watch and listen to the latest news and archival materials. You can also familiarize yourself with the style, register and terminology used in United Nations documents by visiting the United Nations Official Document System (ODS) and comparing different language versions of the same document. You will find this to be a particularly rewarding exercise.
